Trump: There can be some retaliation in US-China trade dispute

Trump on China

  • US cannot let China take advantage of it any longer
  • We will be meeting at the G20, which could be fruitful
  • US in a great position right now
  • No decision yet on tariffs on final $300B of Chinese goods

“There can be some retaliation but it can’t be very substantial,” he said. Trump means that China can retaliate but not much (before he escalates even further).

The G20 in Japan includes a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors on June 8-9 along with the main summit on June 28-29. That’s a long wait with tariffs kicking in on June 1.

Trump also said he will meet Putin at the G20.
