Fed’s George: Wait-and-see is appropriate response on rates

Comments from KC Fed’s George:

  • Current low level of US inflation does not demand a Fed response
  • Not seeing upward inflationary pressures
  • She’s not concerned about current low inflation and is not convinced below-target inflation requires and offsetting overshoot
  • Current outlook for inflation appears benign
  • Sees little value in pursuing a higher inflation target

George is a hawk but is decidedly neutral in these comments.
