Heads up: Fedspeak in the day ahead

We’ll hear from several Federal Reserve members later today

Here’s the agenda:

1245 GMT – Fed chair Jerome Powell speaks (via video) in Boston

This was outlined yesterday here. As mentioned then, he’ll be delivering opening remarks for about 15 minutes on stress tests for large banks. Hence, don’t expect much to come from Powell today before his testimony tomorrow.

1410 GMT – Fed’s Bullard speaks in St Louis

Bullard will be delivering opening remarks at the OMFIF conference held at the Washington University. The conference is themed “The next decade of finance: Assessing priorities and implications for society, politics and economics”. Bullard will speak from a prepared text with no Q&A session so it may not be of heavy interest but best to be prepared.

1800 GMT – Fed’s Quarles speaks in Boston

Quarles is the vice chair of supervision at the Fed and he’ll be speaking in the same event as Powell above. He will deliver the keynote speech at the event for about an hour but is expected to touch on financial system risks and the effectiveness of stress tests.

1820 GMT – Fed’s Bostic speaks in St Louis

Bostic will be making an appearance at the same event as Bullard above and will do an “armchair chat” with the audience so there may be some questions/remarks on policy.
